Critics Consensus

Despite ample charm and a few solid gags, The Lego Ninjago Movie suggests this franchise's formula isn't clicking like it used to.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Very silly, very funny and particularly recommended for fans of hokey chopsocky films and kittens. Rated: 4/5 Oct 15, 2017 Full Review The LEGO NINJAGO Movie | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Tara Brady Irish Times Lego Ninjago, conversely, can't sustain its central joke over an overlong 101 minutes. Everything is not quite awesome. Rated: 3/5 Oct 13, 2017 Full Review The LEGO NINJAGO Movie | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Ed Potton Times (UK) Just as Toy Story did by featuring an owner of the toys, it reminds us that these films are about play and imagination. Yes, they're also effectively feature-length adverts for Lego, but this is rampant capitalism at its most arch and entertaining. Rated: 4/5 Oct 12, 2017 Full Review The LEGO NINJAGO Movie | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Paul McGuire Grimes KSTP-TV (St. Paul, MN) Easy entertainment for the kids even if it's not as original as the others... Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 5, 2020 Full Review The LEGO NINJAGO Movie | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Leigh Monson Substream Magazine There is still a lot of the old LEGO charm floating around... Rated: 3/5 Oct 1, 2020 Full Review The LEGO NINJAGO Movie | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review When I say this is my least favorite of the three Lego animated films, I don't mean that as an insult... In fact, The LEGO Ninjago Movie is still quite spirited, funny, and fully enjoyable. May 13, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Oaklee D A forgettable kids film. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review SkyRo P Embarking on the Ninjago series for a review, I initially had low expectations for a Lego-based franchise. I anticipated it to be a light-hearted, perhaps frivolous watch that I wouldn't particularly enjoy or find engaging. However, I couldn't have been more mistaken. The Ninjago franchise turned out to be a delightful surprise, offering an incredibly entertaining and enjoyable viewing experience. My child and I were thoroughly captivated by every aspect of this series, including the movies, shorts, and various episodes available. The characters in Ninjago are not only entertaining but also undergo significant development throughout the series. Characters like Ty and Zane, along with the rest of the cast, evolve and grow, allowing viewers to become deeply invested in their individual journeys and the overarching storyline. What stood out the most was how the characters' powers were earned through their adventures, creating a sense of progression and accomplishment. Additionally, the gradual introduction of new characters and the phased-out departure of older ones added an intriguing dynamic, akin to the passing of the torch to the next generation.Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend the Ninjago franchise to both children and adults. Whether enjoyed independently by kids or watched together as a family, the series offers a wild and imaginative experience with Legos that is sure to delight and entertain viewers of all ages. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review William K I don't really know why most people have a negative review on this animated film. I genuinely enjoyed it, and it was really good. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/08/24 Full Review Peter H Watched with my six year old brother, and believe me when I tell you he LOVED it. As I sit here writing this, bro is running around the living room fighting imaginary martial arts battles with SO MUCH energy. I just heard him mutter “not so fast you lousy shark warrior” under his breath, and then proceed to karate chop a couch cushion.
5/10 from me.
10/10 from the opinion that counts. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/24 Full Review gladys s It was an okay movie. It has incredible humor and laugh out loud jokes, lesson was pretty good, but I miss their designs from the show. It feels like they threw their personalities out the window and they weren’t as interactive with each other as I would have liked. I understand the movie is not connected to the show, but I feel like it would have been better if it was. I really enjoyed Jackie Chan as Wu, same with Garmadon. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review João Paulo M O filme é bom levando em originalidade, mas não tem nada haver com a serie Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews
